Frequently Asked Questions

Extreme Shooters FAQ — Custom 2011 Grip Services & Support

Welcome to the Extreme Shooters FAQ. Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about 2011 and 1911DS grip reductions, stippling, paint, and fitment. From shipping timelines to texture options, this guide helps you choose and care for your custom grip with confidence.

Ordering & Lead Times

How long does it take to receive a new Extreme Shooters grip?

Standard lead time is 4-5 weeks for new hand-stippled grips. Please note this is an estimate, and subject to change at anytime without notice.  Long lead times are frustrating, and its important that we are not sacrificing quality for speed. Custom painted grips may take a few days longer due to finishing and curing.

Do you keep any grips in stock?

Most grips are custom-built to order. However, we occasionally offer ready-to-ship one-off grips in unique colors, textures, or CNC patterns. Check our Ready To ship Grips page for current availability.

Shipping & International Orders

How do you ship grips?

We ship via UPS Ground or USPS, whichever is fastest to your area. Expedited options like UPS Next Day Air are available on request. Contact us if you need overnight delivery.

Do you ship internationally?

No, we do not ship outside the United States. International customers can check with their local Staccato dealers to see if our grips are stocked in their region.

Discounts

Do you offer LEO/Military/First Responder discounts?

Yes we do!  Contact us for verification and discount information.

Do you offer Grip discounts for Dealers/Gunsmiths/Manufacturers?

Yes we do with a minimum purchase of 5 units.

Textures & Options

Are Dragon Scales, VIP, and Costa Tree Bark the same textures found on STI/Staccato pistols?

Yes. Extreme Shooters provided these original textures for STI and Staccato models and continues to offer them directly to customers today.

Which texture is more aggressive — Dragon Scales, Tactical or Tree Bark?

Tree Bark (Costa) is more aggressive. Dragon Scales offers a balanced feel, making it the industry’s preferred choice for carry and competition. Please note that Tree Bark is currently discontinued.

What is the Dragon Scales texture?

Dragon Scales is the same stippling pattern used on classic STI DVC grips — providing traction without excessive bite.

Is it difficult to install your Staccato Gen 2 extended mag release?

Not at all.  The install should take less than 2 minutes if you have your tools ready.

What you will need:

  • 1/16” Allen key
  • Oil
  • Cloth to clean factory mag catch internals (Spring and Lock)

1st step: Unload firearm and make sure your chamber is clear.

2nd step: Grab your 1/16" Alley key, locate the right side of the mag release (flat side), and put the 1/16" into the visible hex.

3rd step: Press on the button side of the mag release and turn the alley key counter clockwise till you feel the lock turn.

4th step: Remove the factory mag release, slowly turn clockwise on the allen key to remove the factory lock and spring as you will be using these in the new extended mag release.

5th step:  Clean the factory mag release spring and mag release lock, apply some oil.

6th step: Go back through the steps in reverse order of assembly and you are good to go!
